Boating & Sailing. There are marinas on Pender welcoming boaters. Some arrive as part of a longer marine route maybe exploring the San Juan Islands or venture up into Princess Margaret Marine Park. Others explore closer to home and visit the Southern Gulf Islands of Mayne, Saltspring and Galiano.
Beachcombing. Pender Island has over 20 beach access trails. Some of the trails are short others are longer. Many beaches are covered in crushed sea shells.
Birdwatching. Birding on the Pender Islands is easy as there are wetlands, lakes and estuaries on the islands. Birding is enjoyed on almost any coastline of the Pender islands. Medicine Beach is one of the easiest to access for sea birds. Roe and Greenburn Lake are good for waterfowl.
Hiking. For a small island it sure enjoys some great hikes. The Pender Island hiking trails range from easy to medium grade trails. There are over 20 plus beach access trails and some park trails. Some of the better park trails include Mt. Norman and the Beaumont Provincial Marine Park. Both are part of the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve.
Golfing. The nine hole golf course features a club house, concession, rentals and carts. There is also a Frisbee golf course on the island.
Scuba Diving. There are many coves and bays to dive. They provide solitude and shelter for Rockfish, Greenlings Sea Pens, Anemones, Bryozoans, Tubeworms, Cloud Sponges, Wolf Eels. A popular scuba diving destination includes the Tilly Point Caves. Go in at one end and coming out the other end. Tunnel vision per say.
Sports Fishing. Salmon, Halibut and Ling Cod. Fishing destinations include Blunden Island and the waters of Active Pass off of North Pender Island. Fishing is good near Saturna Island near the Java Islands and East Point.
