The services in our BC Campgrounds and RV Parks varies greatly based on amenities and access to power and internet. The proximity to communities varies greatly on power and internet. Close to town or in town greatly increases your chances of power, washrooms, showers, and sani dump. There are exceptions to this rule. As a general rule, the more remote the campground the less amenities. In many circumstances the backcountry, wilderness and forestry sites come equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. In the distance is a pit toilet.

Types of Camping in BC

The many National, Provincial and private campgrounds are easy access via paved roads. Often well mapped and east to find. Most have campsites suitable to accommodate RVs and Motorhomes. However, the forestry and wilderness campsites are a different story. Remote campgrounds generally are accessed via backcountry gravel roads and, at times, can only be accessed by a 4X4 vehicle. Always check first on this website for accessibility. Lastly, there are wilderness campgrounds in many of our provincial and national parks accessed by a hiking trail or by kayak, canoe, boat, float plane or houseboat.

When to Camp in British Columbia

It is recommended to make camping reservations at all Provincial and National Park Campgrounds through BC Parks website, especially during camping peak season from May - September.

Camping Tip: Although you may have secured a campground, do not assume the tours, guides and attractions will be open or have any seats available. During high traffic tourist seasons, it is advisable to book tours, guides and attractions at the same time as booking your accommodation.
