North Bay, Ontario, Canada is a year round adventure destination and transportation hub located on the shores of Lake Nipissing in the Near North Region of Northeastern Ontario, Canada. Lake Nipissing is Ontario's 4th largest lake. The community is situated on the corner of Hwy #11 and Hwy #17. A location which makes it a transportation service centre for many travelers.

Surrounding the community of North Bay are parks and waterways including Trout Lake, Sturgeon River, Mattawa River, French River, Lake Nipissing and the many waterways of the Algonquin Provincial Park.

When in North Bay many wander down to the waterfront. The waterfront is a major gathering place for activity, people and attractions. There is a 3 km boardwalk path connecting to beaches (Marathon Beach), botanical gardens, marina (King's Landing Government Dock), restaurants and children attractions (carousel and train rides).

During the summer months the most popular activities and attractions include golfing, boating, sailing, kayaking, fishing, wind surfing, water skiing, swimming, cycling, motorcycle touring, off roading, horseback riding, hiking and canoeing historic paddle routes like the La Vase Portage which paddles the Ottawa, Mattawa and French Rivers. During the winter months the most popular activities and attractions include ice fishing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and skiing & snowboarding at the Laurentian Ski Hill.

Some of the more popular parks, trails and green space areas for activity include Kate Place Trail, Lee Park, Laurier Woods, Dushesnay Falls, Trout Lake, Laurentian Park Footpath, Corbeil Conservation Area Trail, Loxton Beaver Trail and the Kinsmen Trail. And southeast of North Bay is the world famous Algonquin Provincial Park and the Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park. Sandy beaches to visit, relax and swim in North Bay include Marathon, Champlain, Amelia, Birchaven and Olmsted Beaches. Most have picnic areas and boat launches nearby.
