Seasons in Canada

Canada Seasons

Canada is fortunate in that it enjoys four distinct seasons.

Spring Season

On the west coast of Canada the spring season generally begins in February. The rest of the country usually begins to see the signs of spring in April. Spring lasts until late May.

Summer Season

Summer in Canada peaks in the months of June, July and August. June tends to record the hottest temperatures. The summer arrives as early as May in some parts of the country and can stay around for as long as October.

Fall Season

The month of September is usually the first month to show signs of Fall. Fall conditions can run from September to December.

Winter Season

Winter begins, on the most part, in December and lasts until February. Most areas of Canada receive snowfall with the exception of the west coast of Canada which sees little snow at the lower elevations. However, in the mountains of British Columbia snow can stick around until late May.
