Akamina Lake Trail is a short, easy going hiking route located in the Waterton Lakes National Park in the southwest corner of the province of Alberta, Canada.

Akamina Lake TrailThe Akamina Lake Trail measures about 1 kilometre (return) and enjoys little, if any, elevation gain. The route begins from Cameron Lake. It is a suitable walking route for all ages and abilities, however, it is not wheelchair friendly.

The short trail explores a forest of trees before arriving at a small creek which feeds into the sub alpine lake. Follow the creek to the shores of the lake and to some impressive views.

While at Akamina Lake there are a few picnic tables so one can enjoy some quality time at the lake viewing the neighboring mountains.

From the Akamina Lake Trailhead hikers can continue for another 4 kilometres to Summit Lake. It is another sub alpine lake located deeper into the wilderness mountains of Waterton Park.

From Summit Lake hikers can either double back to the Cameron Lake parking lot or continue east following the 20 kilometre Carthew-Alderson Trail which leads back to the Waterton Townsite.
