Cedar Lake is a small wilderness camping and recreation lake in the backcountry forests located south of the community of Golden, BC in Kicking Horse Country which is part of the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. The lake is a wilderness destination situated not far from the winter and summer activities enjoyed on Kicking Horse Mountain. It is well hidden and, surprisingly close to the village.

Cedar
Lake PicturesThe area, in and around, Cedar Lake is rugged, forested and home to much wildlife. The lake is popular for swimming, fishing, canoeing, hiking, camping and mountain biking in the summer months. The gravel forestry roads and bush trails in the region of the lake draw the mountain bikers and hikers.

The same roads become cross country ski and snowshoe routes in the winter after the snow has fallen. Between late November and early May the lake is frozen over. It is then the frozen lake becomes an ice fishing destination. In both, winter and summer people fish on Cedar Lake for rainbow and cutthroat trout.

The recreation campground site has a small sandy beach area, a floating dock, a roof top boat launch, pit toilets and one lakeview picnic table. The campground provides few camping sites and, more importantly, it is a self maintaining campsite created for tenting and 4x4 campers. Please pack in what you pack out - leave no trace.
