Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park

Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park is a wilderness nature park located southeast of the community of Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. The park is a recreation destination popular for hiking, backpacking, wilderness camping, fishing, boating, water skiing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, swimming and camping.

Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park measures over 9,250 hectares and is situated in the backcountry forests which are part of the Cascade Mountains. The main mountains in the park include Mount Wittenberg, Paleface Mountain, Mount Webb, Mount Corriveau, Macdonald Peak and Mount Lindeman.

The central feature and main recreation destination in the park is Chilliwack Lake. Many arrive on Chilliwack Lake to fish for kokanee, rainbow and cutthroat trout. The lake is located in the upper basin of the Chilliwack River. Some of the other wilderness alpine lakes in the park include the Lindeman, Greendrop, Flora, Hanging and Radium Lakes.

The park includes four drive-in campground areas. The campground services include a playground, park office, boat launch, pit toilets, sandy beach, parking lot and sani dump.

There are backcountry wilderness campsites also located in the park. The backcountry sites are located on Greendrop, Lindeman, Flora, and Radium Lakes and can an only be accessed via the hiking trails. The backcountry sites have minimal services.

The hiking trails access the lakes and wilderness backcountry campsites in the Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park. In total there are over 40 kilometres of hiking trails. There are easy going hiking trails and long haul backpacking trails.

The main trails include:

Lindeman Lake : The trail is a 1.7 kilometre one-way trail (3.4 km return). The route leads to Lindeman Lake and, for the adventurous, the trail continues from Lindeman Lake for another 3.5 kilometres to Greendrop Lake. The trailhead is near the entrance to the park.

Greendrop Lake : The trail is a 5.2 kilometre one-way trail (10.2 km return). The route leads to Lindeman Lake and then continues on to Greendrop Lake. There is a wilderness campsite at Greendrop Lake. From Greendrop Lake one can continue south to Flora Lake and then back to the trailhead completing a loop route. The trailhead is near the entrance to the park.

Flora Lake : The trail is a 7 kilometre one-way trail (14 km return). The route leads to Flora Lake and then continues on to Greendrop Lake. There is a wilderness campsite at Flora Lake. From Flora Lake one can continue north to Greendrop Lake and then back to the trailhead, passing by Lindeman Lake, completing a loop route. The trailhead is near the Post Creek Parking Lot.

South of Flora Lake is an unmaintained, unmarked wilderness trail which connects to Paleface Mountain. The trail is recommended for experienced hikers only. Hikers must have good route finding skills and equipped with navigation devices.

Radium Lake : The trail is an 8 kilometre one-way trail (16 km return). The route leads to Radium Lake. There is a wilderness campsite at the lake. Located south of the lake is an access trail to Mount Webb. From Radium Lake one can continue south to Hanging Lake and then connect with Chilliwack River and the Depot Creek Forest Service Road. The trail to Hanging Lake is in unmaintained, unmarked and is recommended for experienced hikers only.
