Tonquin Beach and Trail is a small, private sandy beach adventure located within a short driving or biking distance from the Village of Tofino on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The park is one of the smaller beach destinations in the area, as well as, one receiving smaller crowds as it is a community park and not part of the very popular Pacific Rim National Park chain of beaches.

Tonquin Beach To access the Tonquin Beach and hiking trail one most drive to the end of Tonquin Park Rd in the village of Tofino. At the end of the road there is a short boardwalk path leading all visitors through a forest to the beach. The trailhead is on the left. The pathway includes many stairs and hand rails. It can be slippery and some sections are covered with moss. The hike should take 10 - 15 minutes to complete. There is no vehicle access to this beach.  Parking is very limited.

The sandy beach is covered with fine white sand and  protected by tall rock cliffs top with small dwarfed trees. All the trees are bent over from the powerful and unpredictable coastal winds.  Tonquin is one of the better beaches for tide pool researching. At low tide there is a large tidal pool exposed with plenty of marine life.

There are no picnic tables or fire pits on this beach.
