Helmer Lake
Helmer Lake, in many ways, is at the beginning of the Swakum Mountain network of gravel roads. The only campground in the region accessing the trails and the lakes is located on Helmer Lake. It is important to plan accordingly for day trips and overnight adventures.

Helmer Lake is a popular destination for fishing, camping, canoeing, boating and off roading during the spring and summer months. In the winter months the lake is one of the trailhead parking lots leading into the Swakum Mountain Snowmobile Trails.

The 15 hectare lake is stocked with Rainbow Trout. There is a boat launch in the small recreation campground located on the south end of lake. The 3 campsites are booked on a first-come first-serve basis. The wilderness campsites include fire pits and some have picnic tables. The pit toilets are located in the trees.
