Merritt
Park Amenities:
Marquart Lake is located east of the community of Merritt, BC, Canada popular for fishing, canoeing and camping when exploring the wilderness regions near Sugarloaf Mountain.
There are 13 vehicle access campsites on the east side of the lake and a few walk-in campsites located across the lake from the vehicle campground. The recreation wilderness campsite provides very little or no services meaning it is, mostly, a self maintained campground requiring everyone to pack out what they pack in.
A hiking trail leads to the walk-in campsites located on a hill overlooking the lake. The vehicle access campground is a mixture of shaded and lakeside campsites accessed from a gravel road. Each campsite includes a picnic table and a fire pit. There is some pit toilets onsite.
This 23 hectare lake is best fished trolling the lake, although, some do fly fish from the shores in late June and in the fall. The best boat access to Marquart Lake is via the roof-top boat launch located in the campground. Most access the lake from the soft, gravel boat launch to fish the lake with a canoe or an aluminum boat. The lake is a popular destination for fishing and is rumored to have rainbow and brook trout weighing up to 3 kgs.
