Trail Length: 1 km

Difficulty: Difficult
Park Amenities:
Hiking
Sightseeing

Soames Hill can be recognize from the Langdale BC Ferry. It is the rounded "hump" of a hill sticking out like a sore thumb on the skyline. Soames Hill is a straight up 1 km (0.6 mi.). A steep hike, with hundreds of stairs, that rewards you in two ways.

First... the trail is a cardiovascular work out with some steep stair climbs. The trail is straight up at points with steps in some tougher areas with side-rails for balance. And second... the reward for the effort is the spanning beautiful marine views.

An Arbutus Tree forest sheds its bark on the peak of this climb giving way to ocean views of Howe Sound, Keats Island, Bowen Island, Gibsons and the Georgia Strait. Watch the marine boats coming and going always making way for the BC Ferry vessels arriving and departing from nearby Langdale BC Ferry Terminal.

The Soames Hill Trail takes approximately 1 hour each way to hike. An individual's physical fitness level has a big part in the time it takes to complete the steep trail.
