The trail is a combination of paved trails and side roads traveling in a north-south direction measuring 12+ kilometres. The trail is part of the TCT (Trans Canada Trail) system.
The recreation trail explores forest, creeks, neighbourhoods and connects with various parks and the waterfront area in North Bay, Ontario.
In fact... the northern trailhead begins in the community of North Bay, Ontario near King's Landing (Government Dock on the waterfront) on Memorial Drive. It is here one can access washrooms, parking and a picnic area.
The southern trailhead entrance is located at the corner of Gibson and Cranberry Roads. It is a rural area with no services.
The recreation trail is popular for activities like walking, hiking, sightseeing, biking and roller blading. It is a route often used by some to get from one end of the community to the other.
Being a main recreation trail in the community the route is generally considered level and very easy going - suitable for all ages. Many parts of the trail (especially the waterfront) are wheelchair and baby stroller friendly.
In the winter the south end of the trail is open to snowmobile use.
