Greenwater Provincial Park is an adventure and campground park destination located in the northern boreal forests of Ontario Canada near the communities of Cochrane and Smooth Rock Falls.
In Ontario's Wilderness Region the Greenwater Provincial Park is a 8,516 hectare nature park with 26 kettle lakes. The lakes are created by the trapping of ice left behind by the Ice Age. The trapped ice under the surface melted and therefore created what we call kettle lakes and eskers.
All 26 kettle lakes are surrounded by forests consisting of aspen, spruce, birch and balsam trees. The signature lake is the easy-access Green Lake because of its green-coloured waters, activities and lookout viewing deck.
The highlights in the park are the campgrounds, sandy beaches and outdoor adventures. The activities enjoyed include canoeing, fishing, picnicking, camping, swimming, sightseeing, hiking, wildlife sightings and birdwatching.
The best way to explore the wilderness areas of the park is by canoe and hiking trails. There are canoe rentals available. Some of the long haul canoe routes accessed in the park include the Deception Creek Route (5.6 km), Mattagami River-Smooth Rock Route (326 km) and the Abitibi River-Cochrane Route (280 km).
