Fushimi Lake Provincial Park is an adventure and campground destination located northwest of the community of Hearst, Ontario Canada. The park rests on the shores of Fushimi Lake in the Wilderness Region of Northern Ontario.
The provincial park measures 5,294 hectares. The main part of the park centres around Fushimi Lake. Surrounding the lake are more lakes, rivers and a boreal forest consisting of spruce, poplar, balsam, birch and eastern white cedar trees.
The wilderness setting and the remote location of the provincial park is ideal for wildlife sightings. Some of the wildlife spotted in the park include moose, bear, red fox, marten, beaver and lynx.
The adventures enjoyed in the park during the summer season include boating, canoeing, swimming, camping, hunting and fishing for walleye, whitefish, perch and northern pike.
Fishing is the big attraction in the park. For hundreds of years fishing has attracted people to the lakes in the park. On Fushimi Lake there is a boat launch, dock, a fish cleaning station and trailer storage nearby. Motor boat and kayak rentals are also available during the summer season.
The summer park includes 2 sandy beaches, a day use picnic area, hiking trails, park store, first aid station, sani-station and a campground.
The campground provides access to firewood, sani station, washrooms, showers, laundromat and serviced and non serviced campsites.
From the campground one can access 2 hiking trails. The Achilles Lake Trail measures 1 kilometre return and is considered easy-going. The Fire Tower Trail measures 7 kilometres return and is considered challenging connecting to an old fire lookout tower.
