Porcupine Lake is a popular activity destination located in the neighbourhood of Porcupine which is part of Timmins, Ontario, Canada. The community of Timmins is located in the Wilderness Region in northeastern Ontario.

The trail network of Porcupine Lake consists of two sections - the Porcupine Lake Trail and the Bart Thompson Trail.

The lake and trails are popular for many activities including birdwatching (birding), canoeing, walking, jogging, hiking, sightseeing, picnicking and dog walking (on leash). Some sections of the trails are wheelchair and baby stroller friendly.

In general the trails are considered level and easy-going routes which are suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Located along some sections of the trails are sightseeing benches and viewing platforms.

White Waterfront Park is a children's playground and water park situated on the shores of Porcupine Lake. There are sitting benches and some picnic tables in the park. Best accessed from Bruce Avenue.

Porcupine Lake (loop around Porcupine Lake)

The Porcupine Lake section of the trail is an 8.5 kilometre loop trail consisting of gravel and boardwalk trails. The entrance (trailhead) of the Porcupine Lake Trail is located on Bruce Avenue in the White Waterfront Park in South Porcupine.

The popular recreation trail follows along the shores of Porcupine Lake. Located on the shores of the lake are various viewing area, grass lawns and sightseeing benches. Some sections of the trail are equipped with lighting for night time strolls.

The sightseeing opportunities include Porcupine Lake, water sport activities, a floatplane base and various species of birds.

Deadman's Point, some government buildings, Northern College and the Whitney Cemetery are all easily accessible from the Porcupine Lake Trail.

Whitney Cemetery is the site of 40 people who lost their lives in the 1911 fire which destroyed the community.

Bart Thompson Trail (north loop above Porcupine Lake)

The Bart Thompson section of the trail is a 10 kilometre loop trail consisting of recreation trails and side streets. The entrance (trailhead) of the Bart Thompson Trail is located on Legion Drive in South Porcupine.

From Legion Drive the recreation trail explores north through a forest of pine and spruce trees to Davidson Road where it then continues east to Pottsville. From Pottsville the route continues east and then dips south eventually connecting to the Porcupine Lake Trail.

The route is very well signed and considered level and easy-going. Located along the trail route are birding opportunities and bird feeding stations.
