The 1793 York Redoubt National Historic Site is a fort designed to protect Halifax Harbour between 1790 to World War 2. The National Historic Site (designated in 1962) was the first line of defense as you approach Halifax Harbour. Each potential conflict (although there never was one) brought new equipment to the fort.

Today, visitors discover the remains of a century and half of military technology. Come learn about a little history and also enjoy some fantastic views of the Halifax Harbour. Plus it is free admission.
