Cape Bonavista Lighthouse Provincial Historic Site is a 1843 stone lighthouse tower which rises out from the centre of a two story wooden building located on the northern tip of the Bonavista Peninsula in Newfoundland. The red and white stripe building is a treat to see and the surrounding cliffs provide some amazing views of the rugged coastline.
Cape Bonavista Lighthouse Provincial Historic Site adventures, and activities most enjoyed includes sightseeing, wildlife watching, iceberg sightings, and birding (birdwatching).
Because it is some cool looking lighthouse which is different from the more common single stack tower types. The red and white stripes and how it sits perched high up on the cliffs makes for some great photography. Plus there are the views of the rugged coastline if that is your thing too.
The more important, some would say only, features, amenities, services located in and around the Cape Bonavista Lighthouse Provincial Historic Site includes an Interpretation centre, actors in period clothing, guided tours, craft shop and public washrooms.
