The Rose Swanson Mountain Trail hike near Vernon BC Canada is beautiful regardless of the time of year and luckily it's accessible all year round! There are a few different trail options for those looking to extend or shorten their hike. Mount Rose Swanson Loop is the most popular hike option but there are side loops you can add on. There is a parking lot at the start of the trailhead but it can fill up quite quickly! This is also a multiuse trail, please use caution when on the trail. This is a pretty shaded hike, opening up near the top.
This is a 5.6km loop. There are 2 starting points at the parking lot depending on how hard you want the hike to be. If you want a nice, gentle gradual incline with the hard bit being the last section to the viewpoint, take the trailhead on the left (the one that has the 'Welcome to Rose Swanson Mountain Trail Head' sign). If you want a long, steady incline with shade, take the path to the right in the parking lot. The trail is well marked and used and easy to navigate.
There are 2 viewpoints: Mount Rose and Mount Swanson. The loop will bring you to Mount Rose where you will overlook all of Spallumcheen Valley. There are rocks you can sit on and enjoy your lunch or snack. You will also pass the trailhead for Mount Swanson and also have the option to hike to that viewpoint.
There are little loops you can add to your hike. Each trail is marked with a coloured marker located in the trees and a few small maps are posted along the way.
