Green Gardens Trail
Gros Morne National Park
Newfoundland Canada Parks, Trails and Historic Sites
Green Gardens Trail is an epic hiking adventure with lots to discover in the Gros Morne National Park in
Newfoundland Canada. The popular national park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the second highest peak on the island of Newfoundland Canada.
Green Gardens Trail Tablelands
The 9 kilometre return (4.5 one-way) hiking trail starts off exploring the slopping hills we call the Tablelands. The Tablelands is an anomily as know it, as it is a section of Newfoundland made from the Earth's mantle. When the continents collided it created the Appalachian Mountain Range. Back in the day it was called Pangea.
Hiking the Green Grdens Trail
Explorers hiking on the Green Gardens Trail will then explore a boreal forest before reaching the coastal shoreline. On the otherside of the forest the views open up to the green meadows, you can hear the crashing sea against the shoreline from here. As you hike closer to the edge of the cliffs one will begin to see in the distance towering
sea stacks overlooking beautiful sandy beaches.
Discover Coves and a Waterfall
The trail connects to Old Man Cove first, followed by Steve's Cove. However, each enjoy their own private sandy beach. Steve's Cove has a set of wooden stairs leading hikers down to the sandy beach. On the far end of the beach is a rocky cove and a waterfall worthy of your attention. l
