Gabriel Dumont Park is recreation destination located on the east bank of the South Saskatchewan River in the Meewasin Valley in the community of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Dumont Park is part of the Meewasin Valley park and trail system. The Meewasin Valley Trail measures 60+ kilometres and connects to picnic day use sites, activity destinations, lookouts and riverfront parks including Dumont Park.
The Meewasin Valley Park is a popular destination for recreation activities like hiking, biking, canoeing, sightseeing, birdwatching and picnicking.
The Gabriel Dumont Park was created to celebrate the culture and traditions of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is designed in a First Nation Metis theme with sculptures, statues and monuments located throughout the park.
The Gabriel Dumont Park is built in two sections. The Meewasin Valley Trail is a pebbled path exploring the diversity of the entire park. One half of the park is left in a natural wilderness state and the other half of the park is more developed.
The natural section of the park is best for walking and sightseeing. It explores around groves of trees and through tall grasses providing river views.
The developed section is more maintained and includes a large playground village for children, a picnic day use area with picnic tables, sightseeing benches, some grass lawns, a TCT (Trans Canada Trail) pavilion, flower gardens, a canoe launch and a washroom.
To extend your adventure in Saskatoon travel the Meewasin Valley Trail north and connect with the Rotary Park or travel south and connect with the Diefenbaker Park.
