Wakamow Valley

Wakamow Valley is a large green space urban park located on the shores of the Moose Jaw River in the community of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. The river valley park consists of many smaller parks and a connecting trail system popular for year round recreation.

The Wakamow Valley parks and trails are popular for many activities. During the summer months the trails are popular for hiking, walking, jogging and biking. Some trails are paved and are very wheelchair and baby stroller friendly. During the winter some of the trails become cross country ski routes.

The paved Devonian Trail is the most widely used trail in the Wakamow Valley. It measures 4.2 kilometres and explores the eastern section of the river valley park. The TCT (Trans Canada Trail) is the longest trail in Canada and it explores through the western end of the park. In total there are over 14+ kilometres of trails in the Wakamow Valley.

There are many smaller parks within the bigger Wakamow Valley park system. The series of parks and trails are popular for year round activities, adventures, festivals and special events.

In the summer the Wakamow Valley day use parks are popular destinations for fishing, picnicking, relaxing, canoeing, kayaking and birdwatching. There have been over 190+ bird species sighted in the Wakamow Valley parks.

The main day use parks in the Wakamow Valley include the Connor, Kiwanis River, Kinsmen Wellesley, Rotary River, Lions and the Plaxton Lake Parks.

Connor Park

Connor Park is a wilderness picnic park. It includes a large picnic shelter, day use picnic tables with BBQs, river pier, playground, fire pit, canoe launch, sightseeing benches, large grass lawns, information signs and washrooms.
From downtown Moose Jaw travel south on 9th Avenue SW and the park entrance is on your left.

Kiwanis River Park

Kiwanis River Park is a recreation and picnic park. It includes many picnic tables, some sightseeing benches, river dock for tour boat, fire ring with benches, boat launch, pier, canoe rentals, pavilion, lodge, washrooms and a skating oval in the winter.
Travel south on 9th Avenue SW and turn (left) east on Coteau Street. Continue on Coteau to 1st Ave SE and turn north (left) and continue to River Drive. Buildings require booking.

Kinsmen Wellesley

Kinsmen Wellesley Park is a picnic park on the Moose Jaw River. It includes a large shelter, a pavilion, brick fireplace, sightseeing benches, day use picnic tables with BBQs, information signs, playground, pit toilets and large grass lawns.
Travel south on 9th Avenue SW and turn (left) east on Coteau Street. Continue on Coteau to 1st Ave SE and turn north (left) and continue to River Drive. The park is located at the the end of the dead end street.

Rotary River Park

Rotary River Park is a picnic park on the Moose Jaw River. It includes a brick fireplace, large shelter, playground, picnic tables, washrooms, monuments and large green brass lawns.
Travel south on 9th Avenue SW and turn (left) east on Coteau Street. Continue on Coteau to 1st Ave SE and turn north (left) and continue to River Drive. The McCraig Gardens are located near the park entrance.

Lions Park 

Lions Park is a treed picnic park on the Moose Jaw River with lots of shade. It includes a good selection of picnic shelters, picnic tables, washroom and some sightseeing benches.
Travel south on 9th Avenue SW and turn (left) east on Coteau Street. Continue on Coteau to 1st Ave SE and turn north (left) and continue to River Drive where you turn right to the park.

Plaxton Lake

Plaxton Lake is a sightseeing destination. It includes a wooden shelter, boardwalk trail, sightseeing lookout and information signs.
Travel from downtown on Hwy #2 south (Main Street) over the bridge and take the first left to the entrance.
