waterfront boats 300Boating & Sailing :The Lake of the Woods is the second largest fresh water lake in Ontario spanning over 2,414 square kilometres. Lake of the Woods stretches 104 kilometres from its most northern point to its southern point and 88 Kilometres west to east.

Rod & Reel Experiences: The surrounding lakes provide fishing for northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, whitefish, lake and black trout. Fishing lodges, guides, outfitters, fly-in camps and wilderness resorts located throughout he region.

Canoeing :Day paddles and multi-day paddles start and finish from The Lake of the Woods. Tours, rentals and paddle route information is available in Kenora, Ontario.

Sightseeing:Take a walk around the downtown and visit the 20+ painted murals, Huskie the Muskie, McMillan Tugboat and the Goodwill Geyser. Board a boat and cruise The Lake of the Woods for First Nation Pictographs.

Tours & Guides: Book yourself a local tour and/or hire a guide. There are tours and guides for boating, canoeing, fishing, hunting and others in the region who have the knowledge to ensure a successful adventure and/or tour.

Pictographs:First Nation stories are told through the rock paintings and pictographs located on the cliffs and boulders surrounding the Lake of the Woods. There are boat tours, canoe and kayak rentals operating in various villages on the lake.

Walk with History: Plan a historical self guided walking tour and visit the many dated buildings in the community like the 1899 CPR Railway Station. Hop in a vehicle and visit the Mather-Walls Historical House in Keewatin, Ontario. 

Go for a Hike:Hike the forests and parkland areas in the Kenora, Ontario region for scenic views. Hike up Mount Evergreen or visit the Rushing River Provincial Park and its 16 kilometres of trails or walk the 5 kilometre Vernon Trails.

Get Winterized:Trails, backcountry roads, frozen lakes and rivers become activity destinations in the winter months. Winter activities in the region include ice fishing, winter camping, cross country skiing and snowmobiling.
