We found ourselves (once again) up in the Marquart and Lundbom Lakes area this weekend. It's honestly hard to beat it's proximity to Merritt and the vast options for recreation that can be found here. Camping, fishing, mountain biking, picnic'ing, kayaking, hiking, bird watching, paddle boarding, horse back riding, ATV' ing, running (the list seems endless actually). There are day use areas, campsites and even fishing docks for those that just want to throw a line in the water for a bit. To be honest, we have only caught 1 fish in all of our years spending time on Lundbom Lake but we see others having amazing luck (as painful as it is for my husband to watch ????)
We brought our dual sport bikes along this weekend - which allowed us to explore a few different areas we wouldn't normally get to. It was FABULOUS! However, if planning to veer off the beaten path, note that this entire area is a protected grasslands area. There are so many trail options to choose from - please, please, please stick to them. We need to protect this precious space.
Sooo... get out there! Whether it's for a bit of casting off the dock one evening or for a week of camping. You'll be glad you did :)
This dock was recently installed and is fabulous. Located at the Day Use boat launch it's a great spot to tie up the boat, have a picnic or fish off the dock.
Our home for a few days. We LOVE the versatility having the truck camper allows us. It gets us into some great spots pretty effortlessly and also allows us to tow the boat, cargo trailer or even the Tracker if we want - through all four seasons.
Our goal this weekend was to keep things simple. And we did.
It was awfully great to have extra time with less gear to maneuver around and have moments like this.
Kevin has a vintage retractable fishing rod that has been packed away for years. Being that we were getting around on the bikes, it was the perfect opportunity to dust if off and give it a go.
We found a trail that wraps around the south side of Marquart Lake and it provided a nice opportunity to walk down to the water and throw the fishing line in.
